No, a Clinical Psychologist is not the only professional who can provide a diagnosis.
At Insight Assessment Clinic, our assessments are conducted by fully qualified General Psychologists with specialised training in psychometric testing and neurodevelopmental conditions. Psychologists with the appropriate expertise can diagnose conditions such as ADHD and cognitive difficulties using gold-standard assessment tools and evidence-based practices.
In Australia, both Clinical Psychologists and General Psychologists with the right training and experience can conduct diagnostic assessments.
Please note, there may be a need for a multidisciplinary team for Autism diagnoses of Level 2 and above. If you have any questions about this process, we encourage you to reach out to our team for more information.

You will be assessed by a Psychologist, not a Psychiatrist.
If you are seeking medication for ADHD, we work closely with trusted Psychiatrists who can prescribe and manage it after our assessments are completed.
While we recognise the importance of medication when necessary, we also encourage a holistic approach to ADHD management—exploring lifestyle factors such as diet, sleep, exercise, and psychological strategies to support overall well-being. You may find that medication is a path you choose to explore later on, as starting with practical strategies first can help you develop a strong foundation for managing ADHD symptoms.
-
After your diagnosis, your psychologist will guide you through the next steps, helping you understand your results and explore management options.
We offer Intervention Packs for personalised coaching and strategies, along with access to our trusted network of allied health professionals, including General Practitioners, Nutritionists, Dietitians, and Psychiatrists. Whether you’re seeking practical strategies, symptom management, or further referrals, we’re here to support you in navigating your journey with confidence.
